Maintaining Memories in Umbria, Italy

This experience sparked a fire in me, to learn the language and discover more about the traditions and culture. Initially along with my wife and daughter we spent many holidays in Italy. But when we discovered Umbria, it instantly felt like home.
In 2005 we started to realise our dream, although purchasing a condemned 15th century ruin may not have seemed the ideal starting point. During the restoration my family and I spent all our spare time and holidays travelling to this hilltop village from our home in Manchester England.
We found that building practices, regulations, permissions, and costs were completely different than the UK so had to learn how to navigate the Italian bureaucracy. This also meant that over the years of the restoration we built long lasting relationships with local merchants, tradesmen, and officials. Which meant that any work outside of the realms of my 40-year building experience, was swiftly completed. I was also able to work alongside these tradesmen, learning specialist skills required for the upkeep of these beautiful stone homes.
After moving to our Umbrian home permanently, I decided I wanted to help others. Not only with house maintenance, building projects and become a trusted key holder for their property. But to make the building and maintenance of their future memories, simple.
Umbria la Vita is here to support both our Italian and English-speaking clients, with great quality workmanship and straight forward pricing.
